Ghalibaf Rejects Pressure as Pakistan Army Chief Visits Tehran
TEHRAN — Iran insisted on the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and rejected any impact from pressure as Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir met Parliament Speaker Muhammad Bagher Ghalibaf here on Monday to discuss regional developments.
Ghalibaf, who heads Iran’s negotiating team, said
Iran is pursuing implementation of the conditions set out in the memorandum and that the United States must honor its commitments under the agreement.
He reviewed multiple U.S. breaches of its commitments, saying the obligations of both sides under the memorandum were clear.
Ghalibaf said it is the United States’ failure to honor its commitments that has prevented stability in the region and created another reason for distrust of Washington.
Munir, for his part, said he will continue his efforts to help restore stability in the region.
