Iran Pledges Full Support for Lebanon’s Self-Defense Amid Israeli Massacre
TEHRAN -- Iran has reaffirmed its unwavering support for Lebanon’s legal and legitimate right to use all means necessary to defend its existence against Israeli aggression,
following a brutal massacre that martyred at least 11 people, including three children, in the southern Lebanese region of Nabatieh.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei strongly condemned the latest Israeli attacks that targeted members of the same family, stressing that the strikes occurred amid the regime’s continued violations of Lebanese national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Baghaei emphasized that Iran has consistently supported Lebanon’s inherent right to self-defense, stating that “being neighbors with an occupying entity [Israel], which knows no bounds in committing aggression and crimes, creates difficult conditions”.
He added that the Israeli regime “cannot be contained in any other way except by equipping countries with the necessary military capabilities to defend themselves”.
The spokesperson called for the immediate withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied Lebanese territories while praising the Lebanese people’s “honorable resistance” in the face of Israeli aggression.
Baghaei also sharply criticized the United Nations Security Council for its continued silence and inaction regarding the regime’s blatant violations of international law and international humanitarian law.
The official underlined the Islamic Republic’s solidarity with Lebanon in defending its national sovereignty, independence, and dignity.
