TEHRAN -- Iran has opened a new monitoring center at Tehran’s Niavaran Cultural-Historical Complex, introducing centralized surveillance of its historic buildings, museum spaces and grounds as part of efforts to strengthen security and protect the country’s cultural heritage.
The monitoring room was inaugurated in the presence of Ali Darabi, deputy minister and deputy head of the Cultural Heritage Department, and Shahroud Amir-Entekhab, director of the Niavaran Cultural-Historical Complex.
Designed as the complex’s central visual surveillance and control center, the facility enables personnel to monitor different sections of the site and areas covered by its network of closed-circuit cameras from a single location.
Equipped with modern visual surveillance systems, the center allows protection personnel to continuously monitor the complex, identify and assess unusual events, track conditions across different spaces and respond rapidly when necessary. Officials said the system is intended to reinforce a preventive approach to protecting historic structures, museum spaces and the objects housed within them.
During his visit to the monitoring center, Darabi was briefed on the project’s implementation, equipment and operation. He praised the work of the complex’s protection unit and stressed the importance of using modern technologies to strengthen the safeguarding of Iran’s cultural heritage.
The new facility, Darabi said, represents a step toward expanding
 the complex’s protection infrastructure, raising its security level and moving toward an integrated and intelligent system for monitoring and safeguarding cultural heritage.
Members of the Niavaran protection unit also briefed officials on the number and placement of cameras, their installation and the way different sections of the complex are monitored, explaining the capabilities of the new surveillance system.
The complex’s director provided additional details on the monitoring room’s operation and the procedures used to oversee and control different areas of the historic site.
