Judiciary Chief: Trump’s Strait of Hormuz Claims Are ‘Nonsense’
TEHRAN — Iran’s Judiciary Chief Gholamhussein Mohseni Ejei Saturday dismissed recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the Strait of Hormuz as “nonsense,” saying the strategic waterway is an inseparable part of Iran’s territorial and border domain.
“The nonsense and falsehoods of the criminal U.S. president regarding the Strait of Hormuz stem from the delusions of this shallow-minded individual,” Mohseni Ejei wrote on Saturday in response to Trump’s claims on social media.
“In reality, the owner and ruler of this important global waterway is the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he added.
Mohseni Ejei said Iran demonstrated during military confrontation that the Strait of Hormuz is part of Iran’s territorial sphere and that any attempt at adventurism in the waterway will be met with a response.
“We proved to Trump and his entourage in the hard arena of military confrontation that the Strait of Hormuz is an inseparable part of Iran’s territorial and border domain,” he said.
“Any adventurism in it will destroy and defeat any aggressor and adventurer force,” the judiciary chief added.
He further said that from the perspective of international law and principles of national sovereignty, Iran’s connection to the Strait of Hormuz is an established reality.
“From the perspective of international law and the governing principles of national sovereignty, the belonging of the Strait of Hormuz to Iran is an explicitly recognized and established reality,” Mohseni Ejei said.
The judiciary chief also criticized Trump’s political and military record, saying the U.S. president was a “complete loser” in those arenas.
“Trump is a complete loser in the hard field of politics and military battle,” he said, adding that what provided relief to Trump is “these virtual gestures and empty rhetoric.”
Mohseni Ejei said that Trump and his advisers should understand that “the boot of arrogance will never touch the Strait of Hormuz.”
“What multi-billion-dollar warships failed to achieve cannot be accomplished through a few tweets and speeches,” he said.
