TEHRAN -- Iranian cinemas welcomed 251,271 viewers during the 21st week of the year, recording box-office sales of approximately $188,000 based on an exchange rate of 187,000 tomans per dollar, with “The Death Bath” and “The Pool” leading weekly ticket sales.
According to CinemaShahr’s public relations office, cinemas across the country generated 35.215 billion tomans in ticket sales between Saturday, August 8 and Friday, August 14, despite closures from Tuesday to Thursday due to mourning ceremonies marking the end of Safar.
Among cinema complexes, Kourosh Cinema Complex ranked first with 15,506 viewers, followed by Iran Mall Cinema Complex with 13,219 viewers, Hadish Cinema Complex with 8,020 viewers, Ecomall Cinema Complex in Karaj with 6,520 viewers, and Azadi Cinema Complex with 5,991 viewers.
At the film level, “The Death Bath,” directed by Kazem Daneshi, topped the weekly box office with 111,859 viewers, followed by “The Pool,” directed by Soroush Sehat, with 93,150 viewers.
The other top-five films were “Adventure on James Bond Island,” directed by Bahman Goodarzi, with 16,916 viewers; “Personal Clothes,” directed by Amir Abbas Rabiei, with 6,905 viewers; and “Antique,” directed by Hadi Naeiji, with 4,406 viewers.
Despite fewer screening days due to the end-of-Safar mourning period, Iranian cinemas continued to attract audiences, with the two leading films accounting for the largest share of weekly attendance.
