TEHRAN – Iran’s trade indicators at the Razi-Khoy border crossing saw a dramatic increase between April and August, with export value surging by 300% compared to the same period last year, according to local customs officials.
 Ali-Asghar Abdollahi, acting director of Razi Customs, announced that $217 million worth of goods—weighing 440,000 tons—were exported through the crossing during this timeframe, marking a 300% increase in export value and a 293% rise in total tonnage.
“As Iran’s sole rail border connecting to Europe, the Razi border holds exceptional potential for developing foreign trade, transit, and freight transport,” Abdollahi stated. “The data from this four-month period highlights a major surge in commercial activity.”
During this timeframe, 8,975 railcars passed through the Razi crossing—a 205% increase compared to the same period in previous tracking. Total transit volume (both foreign and domestic) exceeded $116 million, totaling more than 135,000 tons.
Abdollahi added that transit values climbed by more than 100%, with transit weight rising approximately 250%, showcasing the border’s growing importance in international logistics.
Highlighting its role in passenger movement, Abdollahi noted that over 5,000 travelers cross daily, positioning Razi among the top passenger customs points in the country. He emphasized that expanding the terminal’s infrastructure will unlock further trade, transit, and tourism potential.
Customs revenues at the Razi border also saw a remarkable boost, jumping nearly 800%.
