Leader’s Representative: We Trust Our Negotiators, But Not America
TEHRAN – Iran’s leadership has drawn a clear line between confidence in its own negotiating team and total distrust of the United States, as the nation’s officials emphasize that negotiations are conducted from a position of strength and honor, not weakness.
Hojjatoleslam Abdollah Haji-Sadeghi, the Leader’s representative in the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), stated on Monday that while Iran fully trusts its negotiators, it does not have “an iota of trust” in America and the enemies of the Islamic Revolution.
“Iran enters negotiations from a position of dignity and authority, representing a victorious nation,” Haji-Sadeghi said at a ceremony commemorating the martyrs of the 12-day war at the Shrine of Hazrat Abdolazim Hassani in Shahr-e-Rey.
“If the rights of the Iranian nation are not secured at the negotiating table, the Iranian people will achieve them on the battlefield.”
The Leader’s representative emphasized that negotiation is not the Islamic Republic’s primary option but is conducted from a position of power and authority.
The negotiators represent the Iranian nation and enjoy the support and trust of the people. However, the other side is an enemy with a proven record of hostility and bad faith, he said.
“The Iranian nation will never consider America and the Zionist regime as friends or trustworthy, and will never forget the slogan ‘Death to America’ and ‘Death to Israel’,” Haji-Sadeghi declared.
He stressed that negotiations must be conducted from a position of strength, dignity, and authority, and if the nation’s rights are not secured at the negotiating table, Iran has other means to reclaim them.
The remarks align with consistent themes from the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, who has repeatedly warned against trusting the United States, citing historical evidence of American betrayal.
The Leader has emphasized that America’s problem is with the Islamic Republic itself and its independence, not with specific issues like nuclear energy or human rights.
“The Leader has stated that even if a non-religious government were in power and sought independence, America would still oppose it. The 1953 coup against Dr. Mossadegh, orchestrated by the CIA, is proof that America cannot tolerate an independent Iran,” Haji-Sadeghi noted, reinforcing the Leader’s historical perspective.
Haji-Sadeghi further noted that today many nations and governments have come to realize that America cannot be trusted, and the Islamic Republic of Iran has become a model for independent and freedom-seeking nations.
He emphasized that Iranian armed forces, including the IRGC Ground Forces, are at full readiness and that enemies who threaten ground operations will never dare to carry out such threats.
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC)’s forces are present on the battlefield with full motivation and readiness, eager to confront the enemy directly, he added.
The IRGC representative also highlighted that the Islamic Revolution has brought America down from its superpower status and brought honor and dignity to Islam in the world.
