TEHRAN –65-kg boxer Ali Habibinejad won a bronze medal at the China 2026 Boxing World Cup and Iran ended the career with a bronze medal in the tournament.
The Iranian team took part in the tournament with five boxers in the men’s division and two representatives in the women’s division.
On Saturday, Ali Habibinejad in the 65 kg weight category faced Lothar Marcus from the United States and at the end of the three rounds of the fight, he lost with a score of 5-0 and failed to reach the finals and settled for a bronze medal.
He had previously secured his bronze medal by defeating representatives of Mexico and England and reaching the semifinals, ending the years of waiting for this discipline to win a medal in the World Cup.
The rest of the Iranian team, in both the men’s and women’s divisions, were eliminated from the competition.
