‘Conqueror of Khaybar’ Adorns Tehran to Mark Birth of Imam Ali (AS)
TEHRAN — To mark the birth of Imam Ali (AS) and Father’s Day, Tehran will unveil the “Conqueror of Khaybar” monument at Imam Khomeini Square on January 3, transforming the cityscape into a public tribute to one of Islam’s most revered figures.
The unveiling will be accompanied by a large-scale performance, The Conquest of Khaybar, featuring prominent artists and cutting-edge video-mapping technology that immerses audiences in the historic narrative.
Mehdi Mazhabi, CEO of Tehran’s Urban Beautification Organization, highlighted the broader citywide preparations. Streets and squares are adorned with flags bearing Imam Ali’s name alongside the national banner, while parking, police presence, and safety measures ensure an orderly public experience. A symbolic replica of the legendary sword Zulfiqar has been installed along Hazrat Zahra Parkway, evoking courage, justice, and the ethical principles of Imam Ali.
The urban landscape has been further transformed with more than 5,000 small flags, 65 large display flags, 36 tall-standing banners, 25,000 meters of colorful streamers, 38,000 meters of light strings, and 10,000 square meters of banner installations across major squares.
Twenty permanent sculptures complement these installations, embedding cultural identity and historical memory into Tehran’s streets. Additional displays commemorate figures such as General Qassem Soleimani, linking contemporary civic pride with heritage.
The festivities will culminate in a citywide fireworks display, illuminating Tehran in honor of the occasion. Mazhabi emphasized that the celebrations are not simply ceremonial: through monuments, light, and performance, the event seeks to foster a lasting connection between citizens and the values of justice, courage, and leadership that Imam Ali represents.
