Iran to Expand Cooperation With World Chess Federation
MOSCOW (IRNA) – Iran's Ambassador to Russia and the President of World Chess Federation ( FIDE) in a meeting here on Sunday discussed issues of mutual interest.
In the meeting Mehdi Sanaei and Kirsan Ilyumzhinov underlined expansion of bilateral cooperation.
The meeting was held on the eve of Ilyumzhinov's visit to Iran and the two sides discussed issues of mutual interest.
The two sides agreed that the preliminary round of world chess competitions would be held in Tehran this year.
Ilyumzhinov, who is currently advisor to Russian President Vladimir Putin, also underlined common grounds for cooperation with Iran.
Sanaei, for his part, wished him success in his post as President of World Chess Federation.
