Tough Group for Women Volleyballers in Islamic Solidarity Games
TEHRAN - The draw for the Islamic Solidarity Games, placed Iran’s women volleyball team in a tough Group A alongside heavyweights Turkey, Azerbaijan and Indonesia.
The group is shaping up to be one of the toughest in the games, given the strength and pedigree of the teams — particularly Turkey.
The Islamic Solidarity Games will be held from November 6 to 19 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, and the Iranian women’s national volleyball team is one of the teams participating in these games.
The teams of Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Algeria and Kazakhstan are the other teams participating in the Islamic Solidarity Games women’s volleyball tournament, which will face each other in the second preliminary group.
The final preparation camp related to the dispatch of the women’s national volleyball team began on Thursday, October 7, with the presence of 15 players, and will continue until November 10, when the team will be dispatched to Riyadh.
Aytek Salamat, Zahra Karimi, Elahepour Saleh, Masoumeh Ghadami, Ghazaleh Bostan, Spinoud Dast Barjan, Zahra Moghani, Kimia Kiani, Reyhaneh Karimi, Fatemeh Khalili, Zahra Salehi, Shaghayegh Hassankhani, Negar Hashemi, Shabnam Alikhani, and Sudabeh Bagherpour are the 15 players invited to this camp by Lee Do-hee, head coach of the Iranian women’s national volleyball team.
