TEHRAN – Iranian tennis player Vanya Yavari on Saturday managed to reach the quarterfinals of the Tunisian Youth Contenders U-19 competition.
Yavari made it to the main draw after a thrilling performance in the group stage and advancing as the top on the table
In her first match in the knockout round, Iran’s junior table tennis player played against Ekaterina Drozdova from Latvia and in a close and critical match, she defeated the European opponent 3-2 to secure her promotion to the top eight.
Vanya Yavari now has to face Varvara Tolmacheva from Kazakhstan in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals and win a medal.
