Every year the Holy Defence Week reminds us of the epics of our combatants on the battlefields of the 8-year US imposed war and the iron-resolve of the nation to weather sanctions after sanctions of the frustrated West’s vain bid to overthrow the Islamic system of government.

Every year over the past four-and-a-half decades Iranians in the face of the ever-increasing sanctions and other intricate plots, especially of the rancourous US and its three European minions (Britain, France, and Germany), have made spectacular progress in all fields to make Iran self-sufficient and the paramount regional power.

This means the Iranian people have turned challenges into opportunities to the exasperation of the dastardly Democrat or Republican regimes marching in and out of the so-called White House, by always keeping in mind the famous phrase of the Father of the Islamic Revolution that “war is a blessing in disguise.”

Glory to the soul of Imam Khomeini (RA) for infusing our combatants and the whole nation with indomitable spiritual values that served during the imposed war of the 1980s and still serve as the most potent weapon in our armoury – as was evident last June when the illegal Zionist entity and then its terrorist godfather the US, imposed a 12 day war upon us.

Our earnest gratitude to his able successor, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, whose astute leadership has helped us overcome the devilish designs of the US and its stooges at every stage.

Having failed to create dissensions or to break the spirit of resistance of the Iranian nation, the Great Satan ordered its three European minions to resort to an obsolete clause of the dubious 2015 accord by manipulating the UN Security Council for what the enemies call ‘snapback sanctions’ for not heeding their diktat to dismantle our peaceful civilian nuclear projects.

It is a totally lawless move and that too against the only world country whose nuclear project is under the watchful eyes of the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

This is in total contrast to the free rein given by the US, the West European regimes, and the IAEA to racist/terrorist Israel to stay outside the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), to manufacture atomic war heads, to threaten Arab states with weapons of mass destruction, to launch attacks on Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Iran, and to commit every conceivable crime against humanity, as is clear by the ongoing genocide in Gaza where over 65,000 defenceless men, women, and children have been killed over the past two years.

The question that arises is: Do the snapback sanctions subject Iran to more constraints when the ever-increasing economic, political, media, military, terrorist plots of Washington and its stooges have failed to mar Iran’s dazzling industrial development, and regional and international trade deals?

No, none at all, since this is nothing but a psychological plot to try to give a scare to segments of the Iranian people and make them lose confidence in their own selves.

Nothing of this sort will ever happen to a solidified Muslim nation which every year marks the Holy Defence Week to keep alive memories of the martyrs and the veterans, and which last June again showed its prowess by retaliating with force against the Israel and the US, with the pledge to deliver more shattering blows to them with Iran’s spiritual and material might, if they commit another military folly.
