Berdia Daneshvar Beats Russian Chess Player

TEHRAN - Iranian chess grandmaster Bardiya Daneshvar demonstrated exemplary mental skill at the Grand Swiss chess competition in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
The 19-year-old Iranian sportsman won a Alexander Grischuk from Russia. Russian opponent had previously led the Iranian national team.
Iranian chess super grandmaster Parham Maghsoudloo also settled for a draw in the fourth round of the competition against the host country’s suer grandmaster, Nodirbek Abdostarov. Maghsoudloo, who took the top spot in the standings by defeating Alireza Firouzja in the third round, drew in the fourth round to increase his total points to 3.5 and solidify his position at the top of the standings. He had defeated the representatives of India and Spain in the first and second rounds.
The Grand Swiss Chess Competition is held in 11 rounds and 2 tables. The finalists of this competition secures a quota to participate in the World Candidates Competition.
