Trump’s Devilish Design in Lebanon Set to Backfire
By: Kayhan Int’l Staff Writer
Lebanon, set up by colonialist France in the early 1920s as a separate state for Arab Christians inhabiting Mount Lebanon and its environs, in accordance with the British-French Sykes-Picot Accord to dismember “Shaam” (Original Syria) into four states – the three other being Jordan, ‘Suriya’ (Rump Syria) and Palestine (converted into ‘Israel’ in 1948 by London for the non-Semitic East European Zionist claimants to Judaism) – has always been the target of the West.
The latest plot, and this time initiated by the US, is to further destabilize this land which has a government of disparity based on the outdated constitution, since Christians no longer form a majority and Sunni Muslims have dwindled into a mere 25 percent of the population, with the 40-plus percent Shi’a Muslims forming the largest single bloc, but still downtrodden.
This is the main reason the criminal-minded US president, Donald Trump (a terrorist to his very core for committing the unpardonable murder of General Qasem Soleimani in January 2020 and the equally unforgivable attack on Iran’s peaceful nuclear project last June), is scared stiff of Lebanon’s legendry anti-terrorist movement, the Hezbollah.
He wants the disarmament of the Hezbollah and in a blatant act of direct meddling in the affairs of Lebanon has directed the weak cabinet of President Joseph Aoun (a Christian) and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam (a Sunni Muslim) to play with fire even if a civil war is ignited and cabinet in Beirut collapses.
The US design is to carry out the dirty of the illegal Zionist entity which failed to defeat Hezbollah during its war on Lebanon early this year and the cowardly target-killing of its senior leaders.
The people of Lebanon are horrified. They know very well that Hezbollah or Party of God (a Qur’anic term for virtuous and victorious believers) has been the sole protector of the country ever since it was formed in 1982.
It was Hezbollah and not the Lebanese Army that liberated southern Lebanon from Israeli occupation and then defeated the Zionist entity in the 33-day war of 2006.
It is Hezbollah which firmly stands against US-Zionist designs to set up ‘Greater Israel’ in West Asia.
A recent survey shows that some 75 percent of the population of Lebanon, including Christians and Sunni Muslims, disfavour the American plan by pointing out that the army is incapable of defending the country, while over 60 percent openly favour the further strengthening of Hezbollah.
In view of these undeniable facts, neither Hezbollah will agree to the US plot to disarm nor will the Lebanese people allow the feeble cabinet in Beirut to place the country at the mercy of archenemy Israel.
