Saudi, Iraqi Firms Halt Oil Sales to Russian-Linked Indian Refiner
LONDON (Dispatches) -- The Saudi and Iraqi state oil companies have halted oil sales to a major Indian refiner known for purchasing Russian crude, Reuters reported.
Saudi Aramco and Iraq’s SOMO stopped oil sales to India’s majority-Russian-owned Nayara Energy after the EU imposed sanctions on Russian oil sales in July, three sources familiar with the matter told the news agency. The move left Nayara completely reliant on Russia for its crude oil imports in August, according to sources and LSEG shipping data. Nayara typically receives around 2 million barrels of Iraqi crude and 1 million barrels of Saudi oil each month.
