Thermal Power Plant Capacity Increased by 46%

TEHRAN - The deputy director of planning and development of the Thermal Power Company Hamed Sirafianpour said that the capacity of the country’s thermal power plants has increased by 46 percent in the first year of the 14th government’s activity compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 3,875 megawatts.
Referring to the performance of the thermal power industry in the first year of the 14th government’s activity, Sirafianpour added: over 2,455 megawatts of new power plant units have been put into operation, including the new gas-fired units of the Sahand, Chadormalou, Golgohar, Rey, al-Mahdi, Khorramabad, Neka, Makran power plants and the combined-cycle steam units of the Besat South Pars and Rudshur power plants.
He continued, the production limit of 14 steam power plants with a capacity of 750 MW was removed, and the electricity generation capacity of gas units has also increased by 670 MW through the implementation of upgrade projects.
The Deputy Director of Planning and Development of the Thermal Power Company noted: In order to increase the readiness of thermal power plants to produce sustainable electricity during the peak electricity consumption period this summer, exceeding 102 thousand MW, a program for the repair and optimization of thermal power plants was on the agenda, and so far all the activities planned in this sector have been completed.
