Embassy Slams ‘Unacceptable’ British Sanctions on Iran
TEHRAN – Iran’s Embassy in London has condemned fresh sanctions imposed by the UK on Iranian individuals and entities, calling the measures “fundamentally unacceptable” and based on “baseless pretexts and groundless accusations.”
In a strongly worded statement released on Thursday, the embassy said the UK sanctions, announced a day earlier, were taken “under the pretext of facilitating Tehran’s cross-border activities” but only serve to “harm bilateral relations while intensifying distrust.”
“Iran has always emphasized dialogue and mutual respect in international relations and has never designed or supported any threat to the internal security of the United Kingdom,” the statement said. “The claims made in this context are entirely rejected and fundamentally unacceptable.”
The embassy also stressed that “the main threat to regional and global peace is the aggressive conduct of Israel,” which it described as a “child-killing regime” responsible for “repeated international crimes – aggression, genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity.”
“It is surprising that Western countries still remain indifferent to the protests of the international community against this regime and take no effective action to stop its crimes,” the statement added.
The embassy reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to “mutual respect, non-interference, and constructive cooperation,” urging Britain to “stop its hostile policies and illegal and destructive actions.”
The UK Foreign Office later announced that additional Iranian trading and petrochemical companies were added to the sanctions list, signaling a continuation of hostile and illegal Western policies.
