IRIB Glass Building as Symbol of Iran’s Unbroken Spirit
TEHRAN — Peyman Jebeli, head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), hosted a group of foreign ambassadors on Sunday for a tour of a national television building in Tehran that was targeted by Israeli missile strikes last month.
The building came under attack on June 16 while IRIB presenter Sahar Emami was delivering a live program covering the Israeli regime’s aggression against Iran.
Jebeli described the damaged building as a symbol of Iranian architecture, noting that it was hit by at least 11 missiles in an attempt by Israel to destroy the facility and silence Iran’s national media by targeting journalists.
He condemned the strike as a blatant violation of international law and emphasized that such acts are not new to the Iranian people or others targeted by Israel, which has deliberately killed nearly 300 journalists since the start of its war in Gaza in early October 2023.
During the recent 12-day Israeli aggression, IRIB served as the primary platform showcasing Iran’s national unity—an act that angered Israel and led to the brutal assault on the television building, Jebeli added.
Not all invited ambassadors attended the Sunday tour. Without naming specific countries, Jebeli expressed regret that representatives from states supporting the Israeli regime during the war on Iran were absent, missing the opportunity to witness the realities on the ground firsthand.
