Ghalibaf: Iran’s Power Forced Israel to Seek Ceasefire

TEHRAN -- Iran’s Parliament Speaker Muhammad Bagher Ghalibaf has asserted that Israel’s recent decision to end its military aggression against Iran was due to the regime’s own strategic failures, rather than any sense of restraint.
In a televised interview, Ghalibaf refuted Israeli claims of limited casualties, stating that the actual number of injured Israeli forces far exceeds official reports, which he argued grossly downplay the true toll.
“3,500 Israeli injuries should correspond to at least 500 fatalities,” Ghalibaf said, citing scientific models as evidence of the understated claims surrounding Israel’s military losses.
In his remarks, the speaker stressed that Iran was not only confronted by Israel but also faced the full might of NATO forces, with the United States leading the aggression.
“We were not just fighting Israel. We stood against the combined forces of Western imperialism,” he declared, highlighting Iran’s ability to fend off both military and diplomatic pressures from its adversaries.
Ghalibaf emphasized that Iran’s superiority in both land and air combat played a pivotal role in disabling Israel’s military infrastructure.
He revealed that Iranian missile strikes during the final days of the aggression achieved an unprecedented 90% accuracy rate, effectively incapacitating Israel’s air defense systems and crippling its military infrastructure.
“Iran had complete freedom to target Israel’s military assets across the occupied territories, and this forced them to seek a truce,” Ghalibaf remarked, noting that Israel had no choice but to halt its aggression in the face of overwhelming Iranian capabilities.
The Iranian speaker also pointed to the viral success of the song “Boom Boom Tel Aviv,” which has amassed over one billion views worldwide, as a reflection of Iran’s strategic narrative victory.
“This is not just a song; it is a symbol of Iran’s triumph in the battle for public opinion,” Ghalibaf said, underscoring Iran’s growing influence in the global information war.
Additionally, Ghalibaf highlighted the broad support Iran received from both Shia and Sunni religious scholars in the region, which, he said, served as a powerful reminder of Iran’s standing in the Muslim world.
“The unity and solidarity we’ve witnessed reflect a new wave of regional cooperation,” he added, drawing parallels with past successful campaigns, such as the tobacco boycott.
On the topic of U.S.-Iran diplomacy, Ghalibaf sharply criticized Washington for launching attacks on Iran’s soil while negotiations were ongoing.
He insisted that for any diplomatic efforts to be taken seriously, the United States must first address its recent aggression against Iran.
“If the United States is sincere about its diplomatic overtures, it must explain why it attacked us during negotiations,” Ghalibaf stated, emphasizing that the focus of future talks must be on ensuring Iran’s regional security and safeguarding its economic interests.
In a stinging rebuke, Ghalibaf referred to the U.S. as a “garbage dump” for Western powers, accusing it of doing their “dirty work” and acting as the enforcer of imperialist policies in the region.
“If America truly seeks peace, it must compensate for the damages caused by its recent aggression,” he concluded.
