Minister: Some 400,000 Migrants Leave Iran
TEHRAN -- Iran’s Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni said here Wednesday some 400,000 foreign nationals have returned to their home countries so far this year as part of the government’s efforts to regulate unauthorized immigration.
Speaking after a cabinet meeting, Momeni stressed the need for a coordinated national approach to immigration management. “We cannot continue with a fragmented system where the police arrest individuals, return them, and then see them come back again”, he said.
