2 Killed, 1 Injured in Israeli Strike on Lebanon

BEIRUT (Dispatches) – Two people were killed and one injured on Tuesday morning in an Israeli drone strike on Lebanon’s southern border region, according to health and security sources.
The raid on the town of Shebaa “resulted in the martyrdom of two individuals and the injury of one person,” said a statement issued by the Public Health Emergency Operations Center of the Ministry of Public Health.
Lebanese military intelligence and Civil Defense sources told Xinhua that the victims “were livestock herders from the same family, and one of them was a member of the Lebanese army.”
An official from the Lebanese Red Cross said the casualties had been transferred to Marjayoun Governmental Hospital.
A day earlier, Lebanese authorities said the Israeli military attacked the southern province of Nabatieh, killing at least one individual.
Lebanon’s official National News Agency reported that an Israeli drone fired two guided missiles at a vehicle on Monday afternoon as it was traveling along the road linking the village of Zefta to Numairiyah region.
The car went up in flames following the aerial attack, and was pushed to the side of the road by the force of the explosion.
The strike came a day after a member of the Hezbollah resistance movement was killed and three Lebanese civilians were injured in an Israeli airstrike targeting a motorcycle on the Chehabiyeh-Kfar Dounin road in southern Lebanon.
A Lebanese security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, identified the victim as Ali Shafiq Qanso.
He said three civilians happened to be passing by at the time of the airstrike.
The latest strikes come despite a ceasefire agreement between Hezbollah and the Zionist regime, brokered by the United States and France, which has been in effect since Nov. 27, 2024. The deal brought an end to over a year of cross-border hostilities triggered by the war in Gaza.
Nevertheless, the Zionist regime continues to carry out occasional strikes in Lebanon.
