TEHRAN – President Masoud Pezeshkian said Saturday that Iranian universities need to take on a leading role in the settlement of the country’s problems.
Addressing a consultative meeting on cooperation between the government and universities here, Pezeshkian stressed the need for the academic centers to play an active role in dealing with national and regional challenges.
The president called on the academics to engage in plans for budgeting reforms, economic progress, and management of resources. “It is necessary to carry out academic research and scientific activities with the purpose of solving the problems,” he said.

The president urged university professors and students to correct the administration’s mistakes and define the right course of action.
Pezeshkian stated that the academic community should assume responsibility to settle problems in various sectors such as economy, occupation, energy consumption and water management.
