Tehran, Baku to Sign Transportation Deal During Presidential Visit

TEHRAN – Iran and the 
Republic of Azerbaijan are going to sign an agreement on transportation and customs affairs during a visit that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will pay to Baku, the Iranian minister of Roads and Urban Development announced.
Speaking to reporters upon her arrival at the Jolfa border crossing in northwest of Iran, Farzaneh Sadeq briefed reporters on the outcomes of her three-day visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The minister said she has discussed a broad range of issues at a meeting with Azeri President Ilham Aliyev, including plans to increase trade exchanges between the two neighbors and enhance cooperation in the oil, gas and energy industries.
Sadeq noted that she has held talks with Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev, who also chairs the Azeri commission of the Joint Economic Cooperation, about cooperation in the maritime transportation, increasing the road transit capacities, and facilitating the movement of trucks in the two countries.
The minister said the two neighbors have agreed to prepare an agreement about transportation, border and customs affairs, and transit, adding that the deal is scheduled to be signed during Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s visit to Baku.
She finally highlighted the efforts to implement the preferential trade agreements between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
