General Nasirzadeh in Minsk Belarus, Iran Sign Defense Cooperation Document
MINSK (Dispatches) -- Iran and Belarus here on Wednesday signed a document on defense cooperation.
The document was signed by Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh and his Belarusian counterpart Viktor Khrenin.
The two ministers stressed the need to strengthen regional peace and stability and promote defense diplomacy. They also discussed the common security challenges and weighed plans to enhance relations between the two countries.
The Iranian defense minister described the signing of the document as a major step in enhancing defense and security interaction between Tehran and Minsk.
Nasirzadeh also called for the employment of capacities of the international organizations, specifically the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, to combat the common threats and counter unilateralism.
For his part, the Belarusian defense minister emphasized the necessity for constant defense cooperation with Iran to ensure sustainable security.
Nasirzadeh has traveled to Belarus to discuss the promotion of military cooperation between the two countries.
The Iranian defense minister, who arrived in Minsk on Tuesday, said the visit aimed to strengthen strategic relations between Tehran and Minsk and show the two countries’ determination to expand cooperation.
