Finalists of Imitative Recitation Festival Compete for Top Spots

TEHRAN -- The names of finalists in the second edition of Iran’s Imitative Recitation Festival were announced.
The competition is underway in the northern city of Qazvin, with the participation of 52 young and teenage qaris.
From among them, 18 were named by the panel of judges as those who have succeeded in advancing to the final round.
The final stage will be held on Monday afternoon and the winners will be announced and awarded at the closing ceremony later in the day.
The competition is held in three age groups of 9-13, 13-16, and 16-20.
They compete in reciting the Holy Qur’an in the style of one of renowned Egyptian reciters.
This year’s festival builds on the success of the inaugural event, which introduced the concept of imitative recitation—a practice where participants replicate the styles of renowned qaris—to a wider audience.
Last year’s event was held in Tehran’s Imamzadeh Saleh.
