Zionist Troops Reinvade Dara’a in Southern Syria
BEIRUT (Dispatches) -- The Israeli occupation army reinvaded the western countryside of Dara’a Governorate in southern Syria in the very early hours of Thursday morning, local sources told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed news site.
The sources said an Israeli occupation military convoy consisting of more than six military vehicles and tanks entered the villages of Abdeen and Jamla and were stationed in an area near the village of Abdeen.
In conjunction with the Israeli incursion, the occupation forces launched several flares into the sky while southern Syria witnessed intensive flights by Israeli warplanes.
Occupation forces are still stationed in Al-Jazeera Barracks located on the outskirts of the village of Maariyah in the Yarmouk Basin area in Daraa’s western countryside, which they occupied on December 9, the day after Syrian government fell.
Zionist forces have built electric poles and paved roads leading to the area, indicating that they will not be withdrawing from it.
Towns and villages in Quneitra and the southern western countryside of Dara’a have been witnessing a state resembling a curfew since Tuesday until Thursday morning, where residents have been confined to their homes.
On Wednesday, Israeli occupation forces carried out extensive bulldozing operations in farmers’ lands in the town of Jubata al-Khashab in the Quneitra Governorate in southern Syria, cutting down a large number of trees.
Local sources told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that the Israeli army’s moves coincided with the fortification of Israeli military points in the governorate, which witnessed military reinforcements following a visit by Zionist war minister Yisrael Katz on Tuesday.
During his visit, Katz announced that occupation forces would remain in Syria indefinitely, alleging that this is “to ensure the security of Jewish settlers in the Golan Heights and the north, and all Israelis.”
Israel occupied and later annexed the Golan Heights from Syria following the 1967 Middle East war known as Naksa.
Israel’s incursions into Syrian territory has been criticized as a violation of international agreements by a number of countries and the United Nations, which has called for the troops to be withdrawn.
