KARACHI (APP) -- Speakers at a conference of cultural, religious, and media figures held at Iranian Cultural Center here Tuesday emphasized the promotion of the Persian language in Pakistan as well as the screening of Iranian films in both Pakistani cinemas and on local television channels.
The event was attended by Iranian Consul General Hassan Noorian, head of the Cultural Center of Iran Karachi Dr Saeid Talebinia and three members of the cultural commission of the parliament.
Talebinia welcomed the audience and said that Iran and Pakistan are two neighboring, brotherly and friendly countries, which share deep historical commonalities in terms of culture and art.
He said the purpose of organizing the conference was to raise awareness about the expectations of cultural and art figures in Karachi and to implement the process of promoting links related to academic, culture, art and media in a planned manner.
Up to 40 participants including professors from various universities in Karachi, scholars related to art, literature and culture and other social and religious figures were in attendance.
They expressed their views on methods of promoting cultural ties between the two countries in their discussions.
They called on the Iranian parliamentarians to take appropriate measures to exchange delegations of artists and academics between the two countries and provide them with easy travel conditions.
MP Amir Hussein Sabeti, representing Tehran in parliament, explained that the Islamic Republic fully welcomes the expansion of relations with its brotherly and friendly country.
“We, the members of the Cultural Commission of the Iranian National Assembly, will do our best to implement these valuable suggestions,” he said.
