Official: Iran Ready to Send Humanitarian Aid to U.S.
TEHRAN -- The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has expressed its readiness to send humanitarian aid for those affected in a massive fire in the U.S. state of California.
In a message to Cliff Holtz, the president and chief executive officer of the American Red Cross, IRCS head Pirhussein Kolivand expressed sympathy with the victims of the wildfire.
“Drawing on our extensive experience in addressing natural and humanitarian disasters, we, in the Iranian Red Crescent Society, are ready to swiftly dispatch our specialized rapid reaction teams, rescue equipment, and committed and trained personnel to the affected areas,” he said.
The fires constitute not only a national crisis but also a “wound on the human conscience” that have hurt all responsible and compassionate people of the world.
Kolivand said the heart-wrenching scenes of people struggling to breathe in smoke and fire highlight the need to take action.
“On behalf of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, I assure you that you are not alone in these difficult moments,” he said.
The wildfires have shown that controlling the crisis requires global assistance, he said, adding the rapid spread of the inferno poses not only a threat to human lives but also the future of the planet and the environment.
Meanwhile, Iran’s interests section in Washington expressed sympathy with the Iranian nationals affected by the fires. The mission said its personnel are ready to provide consular services to those affected.
