WFP: 2mn in Gaza Remain Without Food, Shelter, Water
NEW YORK (Dispatches) – The World Food Programme (WFP) has warned that the lives of more than two million Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip have come to a halt, with no access to food, water, or shelter, as the Zionist regime’s assaults continue.
In a statement shared on the WFP’s X account, the agency highlighted the immense challenges faced in delivering life-saving aid in Gaza, saying, “Despite our best efforts to provide life-saving aid, it is impossible to meet people’s needs in the current scenario of conflict, insecurity and restrictions.”
The WFP emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire, stating that it has come “too late” for the people of Gaza, with daily life completely disrupted.
“Life is on pause for over 2 million people without access to food, water, shelter,” the organization added.
The WFP said that international aid organizations were unable to access the besieged strip and deliver aid for millions of Palestinians in Gaza.
The program also reiterated its call for a ceasefire, stressing it was “long overdue”.
The World Health Organization (WHO) had also strongly warned about the dire consequences of the Israeli regime’s war efforts targeting the health infrastructures in the Gaza Strip.
The body wrote in a post on X, former Twitter, that “the systematic dismantling of the health system in Gaza is a death sentence for tens of thousands of Palestinians in need of health care.”
“This horror must end and health care must be protected. Ceasefire!” it added.
WHO singled out the regime’s most recent raid on Kamal Adwan Hospital for criticism, saying the attack “has put this last major health facility in North Gaza out of service. Initial reports indicate that some key departments were severely burnt and destroyed during the raid.”
“60 health workers and 25 patients in critical condition, including those on ventilators, reportedly remain in the hospital. The patients in moderate to severe condition were forced to evacuate to the destroyed and non-functional Indonesian Hospital. WHO is deeply concerned for their safety.”
The Zionist regime launched a large-scale ground invasion in northern Gaza on Oct. 5, allegedly to prevent Hamas from regrouping. Palestinians, however, accuse the occupying regime of aiming to occupy the area and forcibly displace its residents.
Since the Oct. 7, 2023, the regime has killed nearly 45,500 victims in Gaza, leaving the enclave in ruins.
