Gaza Municipality Warns of Environmental Disaster
GAZA (Dispatches) – The Gaza City Municipality has warned of an imminent environmental disaster in the city as a result of water scarcity, sewage leakage and waste accumulation due to the ongoing aggression by the Zionist regime.
The municipality explained that the Israeli bombing of sewage stations led wastewater to flow into Sheikh Radwan Pond, which exacerbates the risk of environmental pollution.
According to the municipality, the Israeli aggression has destroyed more than 85 percent of heavy engineering equipment and 50 percent of sewage and waste treatment mechanisms.
Meanwhile, cats were seen eating the corpses of Palestinians in central Gaza amid a devastating incursion by the Zionist regime that has killed scores and blocked rescue workers from assisting victims.
Footage posted by local video creator Talal Mahmoud showed cats eating from bodies of Palestinians strewn on the streets near a UN-run school in the Nuseirat refugee camp.
Ambulances and first responders had been unable to reach many areas under attack due to the heavy Israeli bombardment in recent days.
The Gaza-based government media office on Monday condemned the “horrific war crimes” committed by Zionist troops in its latest ground assault on the Nuseirat camp, which local media said began on the weekend.
