Greetings on Yalda
Salaam dear young friends. How are you all today, hope you are all doing well by the grace of Almighty Allah.
The weather in Tehran is frosty with snow covering the mountains. Most of Iran is cold this winter, but unfortunately, air pollution has become a major problem for mega cities like Tehran.
While going out please be careful as the air pollution has increased and doctors are advising everyone to stay out of pollution.
Rains and snow are vital for revival of the land and the filling of reservoirs and cleaning the air we breathe. Of course, excessive rains at times lead to floods and cause inconvenience to urban life and maybe harmful for some crops, but this is the Will of the All-Wise God, and whatever He deems necessary for His creatures, He decrees.
Well friends, any special occasion for the coming days?
Yes, you have guessed it correctly. Next Saturday we are going to celebrate the Shab-e Yalda.
Shab-e Yalda is a special celebration observed on the longest night of the year, which usually falls on December 21st. It is a beautiful tradition from Persian culture that marks the winter solstice, the day when the night is longest and the daylight is shortest.
These are all the signs of the Majesty of the One and Only Creator of the universe, Who sent for our guidance a long line of Messengers, some of them with heavenly books, culminating in the universal mission of Islam entrusted to Prophet Muhammad (SAWA).
Allah the Almighty in the Holy Qur’an mentions: “He made subservient the night and the day for you, and the sun, the moon and the stars are subservient by His command. There are indeed signs in that for a people who apply reason.” (16:12)
One of the most magical parts of Shab-e Yalda is storytelling and reading poetry. Many families read the beautiful poems of Hafez, a famous Persian poet, whose words inspire hope and happiness. Elders share stories from the past, and everyone enjoys the company of family.
Shab-e Yalda teaches us the importance of togetherness, hope, and patience. Even during the darkest night, we can look forward to the light and warmth of better days. It also reminds us to cherish our loved ones and make wonderful memories together.
So, whether it’s through stories, delicious fruits, or laughter, Yalda Night is a celebration of love, light, and hope for the future!
God bless you all, goodbye and Merry Christmas.
