Pezeshkian Urges Muslim Intervention to Counter Takfiris in Syria

TEHRAN -- President Masoud Pezeshkian called on Muslim countries Sunday to intervene and arrest the resurgence of takfiri terrorists in the region.
Pezeshkian urged Muslim countries to prevent the U.S. and Israel from exploiting the situation in Syria where takfiri terrorists launched a sudden onslaught on Aleppo after a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah went into effect.
“We hope that Muslim countries will intervene and not allow America and Israel to exploit this domestic conflict within this Islamic country,” the president said.
Pezeshkian said the takfiri aggression is supported by the United States and European countries and carried out with their weapons.
The president also touched on Western-backed Israeli atrocities against in the besieged Gaza Strip and southern Lebanon over the past year.
“We emphasize that we are not seeking war and bloodshed in any way, and those who promote war and bloodshed are the same ones who claim to advocate for peace, human rights, and humanity,” he said.
Pezeshkian condemned the Israeli bombardment of defenseless civilians in schools and hospitals, where tens of thousands have been killed and human rights advocates have just been watching.
“This is shameful. I wonder how they talk about human rights and claim to support human rights, and come down on us but remain silent toward the crimes of the Zionist regime.”
Pezeshkian said the “ignominious” disaster in Gaza and Lebanon is unfolding with the backing of the United States and European countries and their arms support.
