Gaza Hospitals Lost 75% of Capacity
GAZA (Dispatches) –
Hospitals in the besieged Gaza Strip have lost 75 percent of their capacity amid the Zionist regiome’s devastating war, the director of hospitals at the Ministry of Health said.
In press statements, Marwan Al-Hams said the majority of hospitals in the Strip are now out of service, with only five still operating but at a limited capacity.
He explained that doctors are operating despite a severe shortage of medicines that prevents them from treating thousands of patients.
Al-Hams described the health situation in Gaza as catastrophic due to the severe shortage in all surgical departments, which has caused many of them to stop operating.
For his part, director of the Government Media Office in Gaza, Ismail Al-Thawabta, said Israel has left 34 hospitals inoperable.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned that some 15,000 pregnant women in the Gaza Strip are on the brink of starvation due to the intensive Israeli attacks and strict siege.
According to the UN agency, there are about 50,000 pregnant women in Gaza; 4,000 of them are expected to give birth in December, while about 15,000 pregnant women face famine. The UN agency warned that heavy rains and limited aid have exacerbated the displaced families’ suffering in the Strip.
UNRWA noted that 2024 was the deadliest year for humanitarian workers, with 281 killed worldwide, most of them UNRWA staff in Gaza.
