IRGC Chief: Zionists Will Soon Taste Bitterness of Revenge
TEHRAN -- The commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says the Palestinian people will soon taste sweet victory.
“Today we see the resistance of the people in Gaza. It is painful, but it will become the secret of the Palestinians’ endurance. They will soon taste sweet victory and the Zionists and their allies will soon taste the bitterness of revenge for their wickedness,” Major General Hussein Salami told a conference here.
He said today Iran is a “strong, secure, and proud country” that speaks to the oppressors with the language of power, not words.
“We will pursue and punish all enemies and take revenge; pursuing and punishing enemies and taking revenge is a reality we have tested many times over the past 45 years.”
Gen. Salami said, “Whenever Islam shone and grew, the infidels, polytheists, and hypocrites stood against it, and the field of jihad was formed. Today is no different.”
“Iran and the Islamic Ummah will remain, and the enemies of Islam will leave the Islamic lands in disgrace, just as it happened in Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, and other places.”
The general made the remarks amid anticipation of Iranian retaliation in the wake of the Israeli assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in late July. Iran has vowed to take revenge but at a time and manner of its choosing.
