Iranian Athletes Sweep More Medals at Paris Paralympics

Saeid Afrooz Sets World Record in Javelin Throw
TEHRAN – Javelin thrower Saeed Afrooz won Iran’s third gold medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games on Wednesday.
Afrooz came first in the Men’s Javelin Throw F34, throwing 41.16 meters and also broke the Paralympics record.
Colombian throwers Mauricio Valencia and Fernando Meneses Median Diego took a silver and a bronze medal with 39.04 and 37.17 meters, respectively.
Afrooz had won a gold medal in the previous Paralympics in Tokyo with a throw of 40.35.
Bajoulvand Wins Silver 
Hassan Bajoulvand claimed a silver medal in the Men’s Discus Throw - F11 of the 2024 Paralympic Games on Thursday.
He finished in second place with a throw of 41.75 meters.
Oney Tapia of Italy won the gold with 41.95 meters and the bronze medal went to Spain’s Alvaro del Amo Can with 39.60 meters.
Powerlifter Bakhtiar Takes Bronze 
 Mohsen Bakhtiar, Iran’s powerlifter, secured a bronze medal in the  event on Thursday.
He came third with a lift of 197kg.
The gold medal went to Egyptian Mohamed Elmenyawy in the men’s 59kg powerlifting competition with 201kg and China’s Qi Yongkai won the silver with 200kg.
The competition was held at La Chapelle Arena.
Arab Ameri Takes Bronze 
Muhmmad Reza Arab Ameri won a bronze medal on Wednesday in the Paralympic Games.
In the Men’s Individual Recurve, Arab Ameri claimed a bronze, defeating Australia’s Smith Kenton 6-0.
His countryman Gholamreza Rahimi was defeated against Indonesian archer Setiawan 6-4 in the 1/16 round.
Harvinder Singh of India won the gold medal after defeating Poland’s Lukasz Ciszek 6-0.

Hajar Safarzadeh Wins Silver
Hajar Safarzadeh won a silver medal in the women’s 400 meters T12 on Tuesday.
She crossed the line with a time of 55.39 seconds.
Cuban sprinter Omara Durand Elías seized the gold with 53.59 seconds and the bronze medal went to Ukrainian Oksana Boturchuk with 55.67 seconds.
Athletics at the 2024 Summer Paralympics take place at Stade de France in Paris.
Iran has sent 65 athletes in 10 sports to the Games.
