Greco-Roman Wrestler Mirzazadeh Bags First Bronze for Iran at Paris Olympics

TEHRAN - Iran’s Amin Mirzazadeh has defeated his opponent from Azerbaijan 4-0 to clinch the country’s first bronze medal in the 130-kg category of Greco-Roman wrestling at the Paris Olympics 2024.
On Tuesday, Mirzazadeh defeated Azerbaijan’s Sabah Shariati in the quarterfinal stage.
It’s the first medal for the Iranian contingent at the marquee sports event.
Cuba’s Mijaín López defeated Yasmani Acosta of Chile 6-0 to win the gold medal in the Olympics.
Earlier, Mirzazadeh defeated American opponent Adam Coon 3-0 in the category of 130 kg.
But, he lost to his Cuban rival and defeated his opponent from South Korea in his previous matches.
