Iran Self-Sufficient in 90% of Medical Equipment

TEHRAN -- The vice chairman of the Iranian Syndicate of Medical Equipment Exporters said Saturday that 90% of the medical equipment is produced inside the country and only three data-x-items of medical equipment that need complicated technology are imported.
Speaking on the sidelines of 2024 Iran Health exhibition in Tehran, Muhammad Reza Kompany said that currently 90% of the equipment needed by hospitals is supplied by domestic companies.
“Three data-x-items of hospital equipment are imported into the country due to the complexity of the technology required to produce them,” he added.
Kompany pointed to the government’s support for knowledge-based companies in the country.
He said the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, the ministries of health and industry provide various spiritual and financial support to these companies.
“For example, the ministries of industry and health buy the products produced in knowledge-based companies in line with their instructions, which is a welcome thing, but it still needs to be increased.”
The 25th International Iran Health Expo was held from May 18th to 21th, 2024, at the Tehran International Permanent Fairground.
