TEHRAN – Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Hussein Salami on Sunday underscored the strategic role of media, saying the world is in the midst of a tough media war.
“What can turn a tactical scale action into a strategic scale action is the media,” the IRGC commander said.
Salami said the media coverage of Iran’s last month response to the Zionist regime’s attack on its consular building in Damascus was the closest example of the significance of the media.
“In our view, the operation was limited, targeting two points by means of a limited number of missiles and drones,” he said.
The aim of the operation, he said, was to punish “a cruel and irrational regime that does not recognize anything other than the logic of power”.
Iran conducted a drone and missile attack against the Zionist regime on April 13 in retaliation for Israel’s bombing of the Islamic Republic consular mission in Damascus.
