Advocacy Groups: Number of Palestinian Detainees in West Bank Exceeds 7,000

WEST BANK (Dispatches) – Zionist troops have arrested over 7,000 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank since October 7, according to the Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners Society.
The figures, which include released individuals, comprise 220 women, 440 children, and 53 journalists. Eight Palestinians have died in the Zionist regime’s prisons.
“The ongoing arrest campaigns since October 7 have been accompanied by escalating crimes and violations, including: acts of abuse, severe beatings, and threats against detainees and their families, in addition to widespread sabotage and destruction of citizens’ homes, confiscation of vehicles, money, and gold jewelry, in addition to widespread destruction operations,” the report said, according to Al Jazeera.
As of the end of December, there were over 9,000 Palestinians in Israeli prisons, excluding those taken in Gaza.
Tensions in West Asia flared up again on October 7, 2023, Palestinian resistance factions led by Hamas launched a surprise operation into Israeli-occupied territory from the Gaza Strip. Israel announced a total blockade of Gaza, started carrying out strikes on targets in the Strip, as well as on certain areas in Lebanon and Syria, and launched a ground operation in the Palestinian enclave. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank.
