Blinken Meets Palestinian President Abbas
RAMALLAH (Dispatches) – The Zionist
regime kept bombing Gaza on Wednesday as U.S. top diplomat Antony Blinken met the Palestinian president.
As the U.S. secretary of state arrived under tight security in Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, protesters held up signs that read “Stop the genocide”, “Free Palestine” and “Blinken out”.
Blinken then met Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who was later set to discuss a “push for an immediate cease-fire” in talks with Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in the Red Sea port city of Aqaba.
Blinken is on his fourth tour of the Middle East since the outbreak of the war, with earlier stops in Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has denounced Blinken’s claims that members of Hamas hide behind civilians in the Gaza Strip, saying the unfounded allegations are an attempt to justify Israel’s crimes of genocide against Palestinians in the war-torn besieged territory.
The resistance group made the remarks in a statement on Wednesday, a day after Blinken, during his Middle East tour, reiterated Washington’s unwavering support for the Zionist regime’s aggression against Gazans.
Hamas said the Blinken’s remarks are “miserable attempts” to wash the hands of the occupying regime of the blood of the people in Gaza, adding that they reflect the extent of U.S. involvement in these crimes and the widespread violations of all international laws committed by the Israeli military in the blockaded territory.
The resistance group asserted that, “We reject the fallacies and misleading narrative that U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken still insists on repeating, 96 days after the barbaric Zionist aggression against Palestinian civilians, which continues with the full support of President Biden’s administration.”
