Leader: Navy Needs to Discover New Capacities
TEHRAN -- Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Tuesday hailed achievements made by the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy after the 1979 Islamic Revolution as “remarkable and unbelievable.”
The Leader touched on the many capacities in the navy, especially its capacity to help implement sea-based economic policies, saying there needs to discover new capacities in order to increase the authority of the establishment and the country, as well as create vitality and hope in the society.
“In the first years after the Revolution, the presence of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy beyond territorial waters was unimaginable, but now the Navy makes a 360-degrees voyage around the globe powerfully and strongly and returns to the country with pride,” he said in a meeting here with a group of Navy commanders and officials on the occasion of the Iranian Navy Day.
The Leader said the Navy’s advances after the 1979 Islamic Revolution have been “unbelievable and remarkable,” calling for efforts to make the Iranian navy a “comprehensive strategic force”.
“One day, it was not imagined that the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy would be able to be present in the Caspian Sea, but now destroyers are built on the shores of the Caspian Sea and set afloat there,” he said.
On Monday, a new domestically-designed and manufactured destroyer, dubbed Deylaman, joined Iran’s northern naval fleet to strengthen security in the Caspian Sea.
Ayatollah Khamenei spoke about the Iranian Navy’s numerous capacities, especially its capacity to assist with the implementation of sea-based economic policies. The Leader emphasized the need to discover new capacities in order to boost the country’s authority and to establish joy and hope in Iranian society.
The Leader said the Navy should make improvements in its combat capabilities and preparedness by using its capacities.
“One of the capacities of the Navy which can establish hope and joy among the youth, is to create the groundwork for allowing them to visit the factories and capabilities of this force via the Rahian-e-Pishraft tours,” he said.
During the meeting, Navy chief Rear Admiral Shahram Irani presented a report on the capabilities and activities of Iran’s Navy. He also expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the Leader’s announcement of the sea-based development policies, while emphasizing the Navy’s readiness to assist with the implementation of these policies.
