Literacy Rate Rises Above 90% in Iran
TEHRAN – New figures show a growing trend in literacy rates in Iran in both urban and rural areas from 2017 to 2022, which increased from 87.9% to 90.4%.
According to the Statistical Center of Iran, the literacy rate of Iranians aged six and older show that the overall literacy rate in the Islamic country has grown from 87.9% in 2017 to 90.4% in 2022.
The literacy rate among men is 90.4% and 87.1% among women. However, the literacy rate among women in urban areas is estimated at 90%, while in rural areas it stands at 77.8%, IRNA reported.
The statistics also indicate that the per capita educational spaces in the country increased from 5.17 square meters in the Iranian academic year of 2017-2018 to 5.22 square meters in the academic year of 2021-2022.
