Rahman Amouzad Wins Gold at Commonwealth Cup
TEHRAN – Iranian freestyle wrestler Rahman Amouzad claimed a gold medal at Commonwealth Cup held in Vladikavkaz, Russia on Saturday.
He defeated his Russian rival Gajimurad Omarov in the final match of the 65kg weight class.
Earlier on Friday, wrestling team bagged one gold, and two bronze medals at the Russian international freestyle wrestling tournament Cup in Vladikavkaz.
Muhammad-Ali Amouzad defeated all his Russian rivals with scores of 3-2, 10-0, and 4-4 in the weight of 65 kg to claim the gold medal.
Hadi Vafaei (86kg) and Amir-Hussein Firoozpour (92kg) each gained bronze medals in the sporting event.
Other Iranian freestyle wrestlers at the weight classes of 61, 74, 79, and 97kg could not gain medals.
Iran had sent 10 wrestlers to the competition.
The Russian international freestyle wrestling tournament cup was held in Vladikavkaz on July 27 and 28.
