Ansarullah Says to Launch Open War If Yemen Truce Ends
SANA’A (Dispatches) – Yemen’s Ansarullah movement has warned it will launch an open war if the existing ceasefire with Saudi-backed forces in the country ends.
According to Al-Masirah television channel, speaking on behalf of the Ansarullah, the Minister of Defence of ther Sana’a-based government Mohamed al-Atifi warned: “The countries of the coalition (led by Saudi Arabia) confirmed that the truce, according to their request, will not remain in place, and the Yemeni armed forces will take a measured move to restore balance to the region.”
During his visit to several fronts in the governorates of Taiz and Lahj, al-Atifi added: “The solution is not in the hands of the coalition, but rather they are forced to have the solution in their hands.”
Al-Atifi conveyed to the coalition countries: “If you want peace, you will rest, and if you want a war, then we will make it an open war.”
The remarks came a day after the head of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council said that Washington is sabotaging efforts aimed at establishing calm across the country, as representatives from warring parties as well as regional and international actors strive toward ending the war.
Mahdi al-Mashat said on Tuesday evening that Washington obstructs any peace initiative to end the war in Yemen unless the plan conforms with its colonialist agendas to benefit from alternative resources such as high-interest loans – something that entails fairly enormous risks to Yemen.
He further emphasized that all arbitrary measures adopted in the occupied areas in southern Yemen are in line with U.S. schemes aimed at legitimizing their presence and enforce their self-serving policies.
Mashat warned the Saudi-led war coalition, backed by Washington, against the continuation of the war and blockade against Yemen, warning that “the deprivation of the Yemeni nation of their assets cannot continue unanswered and without any accountability.”
Top Yemeni officials have repeatedly warned of Western-led plots against the Yemeni nations.
Saudi Arabia initiated a war of aggression against Yemen in March 2015, enlisting the assistance of some of its regional allies, including the United Arab Emirates, as well as massive shipments of advanced weaponry from the U.S. and Western Europe.
The Western governments further extended their political and logistical support to Riyadh in their failed bid to restore power in Yemen to the country’s former Saudi-installed government.
