TEHRAN – Several people are dead or missing in severe floods which continued to hit Germi and Bila Suvar in northwestern Ardabil province on Monday.
At least seven people have lost their lives in the province, provincial officials have said.
Iran’s Red Crescent Organization issued a statement, saying 12 provinces had been affected in the recent floods. It said two people are missing in Chalus in Mazandaran province.
The organization also warned of more floods and advised people to seek shelter in higher areas.
On Sunday afternoon, floods triggered by heavy downpours hit Germi, Angout, Bila Suvar, and Aslanduz in Ardabil province, inflicting significant damage to residential houses, agricultural lands, and orchards.
Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi on Monday toured the affected areas talked and to the local people.
