Boca Juniors Clinch Spot in Copa Libertadores Last 16

BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) - Marcelo Weigandt scored a second-half winner as Argentina’s Boca Juniors secured a place in the Copa Libertadores round of 16 with a 1-0 home victory over Chilean side Colo-Colo.
Weigandt struck in the 55th minute by latching onto Oscar Romero’s cross with a first-time volley into the bottom left corner.
The result at La Bombonera leaves Boca top of Group F with 10 points from five matches, three points ahead of second-placed Deportivo Pereira. Colo-Colo are last in the group with five points.
Meanwhile, a late Christian Cardoso strike handed Brazil’s Athletico Paranaense a 1-0 home win over Paraguayan outfit Libertad.
The result guarantees Paranaense a place in the knockout stage while Libertad will progress if they beat Atletico Mineiro in their last group match.
In other Copa Libertadores fixtures on Tuesday, Bolivar won 2-0 at home to Cerro Porteno, Monagas overcame Deportivo Pereira 1-0, Melgar routed Patronato 5-0 and Atletico Mineiro won 1-0 at Alianza Lima.
