Khorramshahr Museum Showcases Sacred War Sacrifices
TEHRAN -- The Sacred Defense Cultural Center (or War Museum) in the city of Khorramshahr is a place that enables its visitors to explore some stories about Iraq’s imposed war on Iran.
The building housed Khorramshahr Oil Company before falling into the hands of Iraq’s former dictator Saddam Hussein during the war.
After the liberation of Khorramshahr, the building changed its function into a war museum.
The museum displays data-x-items that tell some stories about the war.
The southwestern city of Khorramshahr fell into the hands of foreign-backed forces of Saddam Hussein during the 1980-88 war, also known as the eight years of Sacred Defense.
Later, the Iranians launched a large-scale operation to liberate the city.
