‘Haj Jalal’ Rendered Into Arabic, English, Armenian

TEHRAN -- Three translations of the Sacred Defense book ‘Haj Jalal’ in Arabic, English and ‎Armenian languages will be unveiled at the Grant Stand of the upcoming 34th Tehran ‎International Book Fair (TIBF).‎
Director of the Foreign Publishers Committee Esmail Janalipour spoke about the Iranian culture ministry’s plan for translation and publication of Persian books into other languages at the 34th Tehran International Book Fair.
“This book is the memoirs of Haj Jalal Haji Babai, whose two sons and two sons-in-law were martyred during the Sacred Defense (Iran-Iraq War) for protecting the homeland and the Islamic Revolution,” he said.
Leila Nazari Gilande, the author of ‘Haj Jalal’, has portrayed a normal village life and the book has been well received, he said.
‘Haj Jalal’ has also a romantic touch. It depicts the traditions and lifestyle of people in the past years. It has been released in 2019 by Soureh Mehr Publishing in 311 pages.
The Sacred Defense refers to the 1980–1988 war Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein imposed on Iran. The eight years of war brought economic devastation, decreased morale and military stalemate among other damages. Later, according to international law Iraq was known as the aggressor.
With the motto “Future Is Readable”, the 34th Tehran International Book Fair will be held from May 10 to 20 in the Mosalla of Imam Khomeini. It will also be streamed on ketab.ir.
The exhibition is a major Iranian book event held annually. The international section of the fair aims to introduce the capacities of the publishing industry of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to expand cultural exchanges in the international scene, to lay the groundwork for communication between Iranian and foreign publishers.
