Afghan Qari Wins Qur’an Competition of Iran
TEHRAN – Winners of the 16th edition of Al-Kawthar TV Channel’s international Qur’an competition have been announced, with an Afghan qari winning the top rank.
Morteza Nassar Ahmad Rahmani earned the first rank in the competition. Muhamed Attieh from Iraq, Mojtaba Harandizadeh from Iran, Saad Mohyeddin from Lebanon, and Muhamed Ebrahim Muhamed Esmail from Egypt ranked next.
The final round of the event was held on Thursday night.
The phone-in Qur’an competition titled “Inna lil-Muttaqina Mafaza” (Indeed, for the righteous is attainment- Holy Qur’an, 78:31) is held in the blessed month of Ramadan every year.
A total of 36 Qur’an reciters from different countries like Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Indonesia, Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, and Lebanon advanced to the main stage this year.
It is the Muslim world’s biggest live Qur’an recitation competition aired by Al-Kawthar, an Arabic-language channel within the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting’s World Service.
